The first wire China - China International Wire & Cable Trade Fair, jointly organized by Messe Dusseldorf China Ltd. and Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute (SECRI), and Tube China- China International Tube & Pipe Trade Fair, jointly organized by Messe Dusseldorf China Ltd. and Metallurgical Council of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (MC-CCPIT), concurrently opened on September 22, at Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC), were successfully concluded on September 25. The twin trade fairs are the only international wire and tube exhibition held in Shanghai in 2004, amid big applauses from the industries, not only from the supplier side, but also from the user side.

Giants from wire & cable and tube & pipe industries gathered under the same roof for the Asian No.1 wire and tube China trade shows. Total 683 exhibitors, from 28 countries and regions, including 506 exhibitors for wire China and 177 exhibitors for Tube China, participated in the shows, with a total exhibition area of 26,000 sqm, including 18,500 sqm for wire China and 7,500 sqm for Tube China. National pavilions from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, North America and UK took part in wire China 04, while Tube China 04 attracted participation of national pavilion from Germany, Austria, UK and North America.

During the four-day show period, total 23, 447 trade visitors visited the shows, among which 2,221 are overseas visitors from more than 70 countries and regions.

Trade visitors of good quality and quantity, together with professional exhibition service of international standard, satisfied the exhibitors. All international industrial partners of the shows, including International Wire and Cable Exhibitors Association（IWCEA）, representing Germany, Austria and France; the International Wire and Machinery Association (IWMA), representing companies in over 50 countries, as well as Italy (ACIMAF), USA (WCISA), from the wire sector, and the International Tube Association (ITA) from the tube sector, expressed full satisfaction with the first events and complimented the success of the shows as beyond expectation in an exclamatory tone. "The word satisfaction is only an understatement for the show, it is beyond our expectation" said by Dr. Horst Birkmann-President of International Wire and Cable Exhibitors Association（IWCEA）/ German Wire and Cable Machine Manufacturers Association（VDKM）. Mr. John Hogg- Secretary General and Founder of International Wire & Machinery Association（IWMA）/ International Tube Association（ITA）stated that wire and Tube China 2004 are "the best wire and tube trade shows ever held in China".

Both shows are also highly praised by the local industries. Mr. He Guang Yuan, Minister of former Ministry of Machine-Building Industry, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and Honorary Chairman of China Machinery Industry Federation expressed that wire & Tube China 2004 played an important role for the development of the wire and tube industries in China.

The next wire China and Tube China, expected to be staged even with a larger scale, will be held from 25 to 28 September 2006, at the same venue of SNIEC, in Shanghai.
