| Jointly
organized by Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute and Messe Düsseldorf China
Ltd., the 2nd All China - International Wire & Cable Industry Trade Fair (wire
China 2006), and the concurrent 2nd All China - International Tube and Pipe Industry
Trade Fair (Tube China 2006) co-organized by Metallurgical Council of the China
Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Messe Düsseldorf China Ltd
were kicked off in a grand opening ceremony at Shanghai New International Expo
Centre. With the great support from Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, the regional co-organizer,
923 exhibitors from 31 countries are displaying their latest products and technologies,
which occupied gross space 40,000 square meters this time. Some 30,000 trade visitors
home and abroad are expected to participate in the twin events. In
recent years, rapid growth of the wire and pipe industry in China has provided
an unprecedented stage for the development of exhibitions. An overview of the
wire and cable industry reveals that during the 10th "Five-Year Plan"
it maintained notable development and China became the largest wire and cable
producer in the world. With the advent of the 11th "Five-Year Plan",
the wire and cable industry has basically defined its targets as: - providing
products and technologies in urgent needs for the national economy - developing
energy & material savings, cost effective products and technologies - producing
environment friendly and recycled goods - manufacturing products of high class
technology. Meanwhile, the remarkable increase of China's steel production
volume has been a boost for rapid development of steel pipe production. During
the 10th "Five-Year Plan", China's steel pipe output increased by 179.96%,
from 9,337,600 tons in 2000 to 26,141,100 tons in 2005. In the first half year
of 2006, steel pipe output reached 17,183,200 tons, increased by 33.7% over the
same period of last year, and the whole year volume is expected to mark a breakthrough
of over 30 million tons. China's production and consumption volume of steel pipe
has been the top of the world for the last several years, which is expected to
continue to witness a two-digit growth in the foreseeable future. Under such a
good market environment and condition, wire & Tube China 2006 has a considerable
expansion in scale and is of a higher international caliber wire
and Tube China provides a business platform for manufacturers and trade buyers
home and abroad in the wire and tube industry, Especially for domestic trade visitors,
without traveling abroad, who can now have access to the information and products
on the world market for the purpose of procurement. With
the success of the first wire & Tube China, many foreign industry associations
have expressed their firm support for the second Shanghai edition. Under their
support, overseas pavilions from Austria, France, Germany, Italy, North America
and UK are participating in wire China once again in full lineup. South Korea
and Spain also organized their first national pavilions at wire China. At Tube
China, national pavilions from Germany, Austria, UK and North America are participating
with great fervor, while Spain pavilion is making its first-ever presence. All
major domestic trade associations also organize visitor groups to the fair, their
full support proving to be of great help and guidance for the event. Various
concurrent forums, conferences and technical seminars in conjunction with the
twin events attract more trade visitors at the same time, such as The China Wire
& Cable Industry Conference. Under the theme of "11th 'Five-Year Plan'
for Wire & Cable Industry and Independent Innovation of the Industry",
the conference offers an ideal opportunity to understand and master the developments
of the wire & cable and optical fiber cable industries. For
